I wrote two articles published on World AIDS Day...The first is an interview with Riku Rautsola, CEO of VIRxSYS. This article was fascinating to write, because Rautsola explained the history of his company's creation of a "functional cure for AIDS" and what this means for the 36 million people living with HIV/AIDS.
The second article is a commentary on a recent report that criticized the practice of creating laws to punish sex workers instead of addressing the root causes of the spread of HIV, including discrimination against women and sex workers. I also included a brief history of sex work in India to highlight the intersection of persistent colonial beliefs and Indian values.
